Celebrity Traveller: Westlife singer Kian Egan on Barbados, surfing and the Dalai Lama
HE loved Barbados so much he married there and he's desperate to revisit Hawaii - Westlife singer and king of the Jungle Kian Egan on his favourite holidays and most memorable travels
Kian Egan, 33, is a singer-songwriter and former member of Westlife. Crowned King of the Jungle last year on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, he lives in County Sligo, Ireland, with wife Jodi and two-year-old son Koa.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY?
In 2003, I took Jodi to Barbados, we had only been together for eight weeks. As soon as you arrive in Barbados you know you're on holiday as everyone's friendly and laid back, it's a bit like Ireland.
I love the beautiful, white sandy beaches, clear blue sea and the tropical fish that swim around your feet. We enjoyed the place so much that we decided to have our wedding and honeymoon there.
AND YOUR WORST?
Last year we went on a two-week family Mediterranean cruise. There were endless problems right from the start, such as having to get up early to ensure we got a sun lounger, and only a small splash pool for our young son. And when Koa got his hand trapped in an elevator door, the staff were not that caring.
The restaurants were crowded and the food was mass produced, even in the a la carte ones.
There were queues for everything, especially getting on and off the ship. It was my first cruise and it will definitely be my last.
