'It's been a mad hectic schedule to be honest': Voice judge Kian Egan on life after the jungle
The 33-year-old admitts he and wife Jodi Albert need the help of a minder at home in Sligo
Voice coach Kian Egan has revealed he’s been forced to hire a nanny for his son – as his new solo album and TV work keeps him away from home.
The I’m A Celebrity winner had been hoping to avoid following in the footsteps of other celebrities in outsourcing childcare.
But the 33-year-old admitted he and wife Jodi Albert need the help of a minder at home in Sligo.
Both need a nanny as Kian is working on The Voice of Ireland and promoting his upcoming solo record, while Jodi is starring on The Big Reunion.
He said: “We actually have a nanny at the minute... It’s been a mad, hectic schedule to be honest.
“Coming out of the jungle, doing the album, and Jodi’s doing the Big Reunion. Hence the reason why we have a nanny.
“We’ve never had one before that. But it’s been a pretty amazing few months. We’ve been grateful for all the opportunities that we’ve been given.”
But Kian insisted he would never allow himself to stop working for his acts on The Voice as he fears them flopping.
He told BBC Radio 2: “You just try your hardest to give them the best advice that you can, and to try and guide them through what can be a very tough industry.
“You hope that they come out the other end shining, and most of them do.
“Even if they don’t have a big, massive successful career they end up singing and having a career in music for the rest of their lives.
“And that’s whether it be wedding singers or country singers – whatever it may be. But most of my guys have done very well in Ireland.”
Now Kian is also singing with wife Jodi Albert on a track – I Run To You – on his album.
But the Westlife singer insisted they aren’t the world’s new Sonny and Cher as they “won’t be that cheesy”.
And Jodi revealed that her husband had to force her to sing alongside him – after never wanting to duet.
She said: “We both have different tastes in music, but lately its just been Kian’s album blasting throughout the house and in the car.
“I’ve been listening to it with the baby and he’s like, ‘Daddy’s singing’. Really we never thought of singing together and a lot of people would ask us and we’d say, ‘No, no, no, we won’t be doing that’.
“And then Kian sprung it on me last minute. He was like, ‘The album is nearly finished, it’s got to be finished in three days, we need you in the studio on Friday’.”
