TV talent show host Kian Egan has become an ambassador for a little boy hoping to walk.
Rory Gallagher (2), who is named after the legendary Irish guitarist, has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, a chronic muscular and nerve condition in the legs which would confine him to a wheelchair. His parents, Shauna and Gerard Gallagher, from Cliffoney, Co Sligo, are trying to raise €120,000 for a life-changing operation in St Louis, Missouri.
"I'm overjoyed at Kian's support. It means so much to us," said Shauna.
The 'Voice of Ireland' judge has vowed to promote the fundraising drive.
"Rory deserves a chance and his parents deserve our support. How awful if he had to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair when surgery with a chance to prevent this is available," he said.
Supporters can also help the fundraising campaign with €2 texts to FEET 57802 or by visiting www.rorygallagherswishtowalk.com.
