Kian Egan has told how Louis Walsh still controls all his career decisions – despite not being his manager any more.

The former Westlife star revealed that before making any decision – such as going on I’m A Celeb – he contacts the Mayo man.

“Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell have both championed me. Simon signed Westlife when I was 19, and we released every record under his label,” he explained.

“Louis is the man who introduced us to him. He was our manager for 15 years – I’m still very good friends with Louis.

“Even though he’s not directly involved in my life now, I keep in close contact. I always seek his advice about career decisions.”

But asked the biggest downer in his life, he admitted it was when Brian McFadden quit Westlife.

“Our lives changed dramatically when Brian McFadden left Westlife in 2004,” he said. We looked at his leaving and thought we were over as a band.

“Then we went on tour as a four-piece, which made us realise that we were able to do it on our own. The reaction we got at our first gig gave us a huge boost.”
