Kian Egan tells of Late Late nerves
Westlife star turned solo singer Kian Egan has said he was "shaking" during his debut live solo performance on Friday night's Late Late Show on RTÉ One.
After performing first single Home from the album of the same name, a breathless Egan told host Ryan Tubridy: "I remember coming on this show in 1998, and I think I was more nervous now than I was then."
When asked about his feelings about going it alone, The Voice of Ireland coach replied: "It's very weird. It's weird, it's exciting, it's nerve-wracking - I can't believe I'm doing it.
"The last time I was here [discussing The Voice of Ireland] was a few weeks ago, probably about eight weeks ago, and I knew it was happening then, but I hadn't signed a deal and I hadn't gotten in [the] studio at that point."
Egan continued: "What we did in Westlife wasn't a million miles away from what I'm doing now. It's just kind of got a bit more edge to it; it's a bit more guitar-based. It's a bit more kind of, raw, shall we say.
"Listening to the album, I don't think it's a gazillion miles apart from what we did in Westlife. I think it's still emotional, it's still powerful, epic kind of songs, that's what I've gone for."
