“We text each other when we are not together, we ring each other; she is just my best mate”: Kian Egan Opens Up To RSVP About His Love For Jodi

During his time in the celebrity jungle, Kian Egan was brave in the face of bushtucker trials, made a lot of friends and pitched in a lot around camp. But one of the main things we learned about Kian when he was on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ was that he really, really, really loves his wife Jodi. A lot!

When we recently met with Kian for a chat about everything from his Westlife days to his solo album, we simply had to ask about his loved-up relationship with his beautiful other half. “I think that’s what shone through out of all this,” he said of his I’m a Celebrity experience, “mine and Jodi’s relationship. Even though it is just a snippet people got to see, that is how we are with each other; we are a proper couple, we are genuinely in love with each other, we genuinely care for each other. We text each other when we are not together, we ring each other; she is just my best mate, her and my little boy Koa. He is also becoming my best friend. She is the one who gives me the drive and the confidence.” We think they might officially be the cutest celebrity couple!

The former Westlife star also revealed how the duet with Jodi, which features on his album, came about. ”It came around in a weird way,” Kian admitted. “I was in the studio with the band and the track was being laid down and we hadn’t decided who we were going to get to do it. We were wondering who we would approach and the piano player turned around and said ‘Why don’t you do it with Jodi, she is a great singer’ and the record label guy was all about it, but I was like ‘Chill, let’s wait and see’. I ignored it for about a week and I didn’t say it to her because I was uncertain if it was really what they wanted and I thought it may be a bit cheesy to do a duet together.”

But after some thought, Kian decided to put the idea to his wife. “The record label guy rang me and said ‘Listen I have heard Jodi sing and she is an amazing singer, if she couldn’t sing, then it would be cheesy but she can’” he explained. “He had looked at the ‘Wonderland’ stuff and the ‘Girl Thing’ videos and he heard her sing so he asked me to ask her. I came home on a Wednesday and said ‘Babe you are not doing anything on Friday are you?’ and she said no and I said ‘Well you are now because I want you to do a duet with me’ and she went for it and we recorded it.”
